Windows® Vista
You can quickly try your Crescendo C700 or C200 smart card without installing any new software by connecting to the Crescendo evaluation server using the Remote Desktop application already present on you Windows Vista computer.
Evaluating the C700 or C200 Card
- Install the OMNIKEY smart card reader.
- For more information, please click here.
- Open the Microsoft® "Remote Desktop Connection" application. This can generally be found at: / Start / All Programs / Accessories /Communications / Remote Desktop Connection.
- Enter http://www.hidcrescendo.com and click Connect
- The "Remote Desktop Connection" window will appear, with the logon box. Insert your Crescendo C700 or C200 smart card. The PIN Prompt dialogue will appear
- Enter your PIN. By default, the PIN of C700 card is "12345". the PIN of the C200 card is "12345678". If you are prompted with "wrong PIN" your card is configured with "0000" as your PIN instead. Remote Desktop Connection will now log you in to the Terminal Services session on the HID Crescendo evaluation server. (The first time you log on to the evaluation server, it will take longer than subsequent times; the terminal server has to set you up with a user session.)

You have now experienced one of the most powerful features of the Crescendo C700 smart card: logging on to a remote server over the internet. On the server you can try some of the other features including:
- When you remove the smart card, the server automatically locks your session.
- The session can be continued from another computer. Just plug the smart card reader into another computer and follow the instructions again.
- Open the Token Administration Utility to browse the content of your card and review the functionality of the Token Utility.
