1. Why is HID offering the Online Order Status service and what are the benefits?

Now HID's direct-order customers can quickly and easily obtain real-time order tracking information from HID's web site. This new Online Order Tracking tool eliminates time zone delays and the need to speak directly to a customer service representative. By using the site, you will know within seconds if an order has shipped, and can link directly to a carrier's websites for up-to-the-minute tracking information. The Order Tracking website indicates the exact lines of partially shipped orders, and what portion of the order, if any, is back-ordered. Scheduled shipment dates and order type information are also available. A comprehensive search feature inventories all items ever purchased from HID and lists them by their most recent date of purchase. Purchase Order information can be looked up using the HID's sales order number, your own purchase order number, by item number search or by a date range. Search features include month and year delimiters, as well as sorting by "Open" orders, or as a reference to check on shipped dates of "Closed" orders.

The information we provide you will include the following:

Date Ordered, Scheduled Date, Date Closed, Shipped Date, Ship To Addresses, Shipped Via, Waybill Number, Ordered Quantity, Cancelled Quantity, Shipped Quantity, Open Quantity, Order Type, Account Holds, and Invoice Number.

2. How much does this service cost?

There are no charges for using this service.

3. Who can register?

Any customer who places their order directly with HID will be eligible to use this new real-time order-tracking tool. Your purchasing agent will be the administrator of this Online Order Status service. To find out if you are an HID direct-order customer and to register, please contact your purchasing agent.

4. How do I register for the Online Order Status service?

To sign up you'll need the following:

  • I. Internet access and one of the following browsers:
    • a. Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or later versions.
    • b. Netscape Communicator 4.0 of later versions. (At this point, we do not recommend using Netscape 6.0 with Online Order Status.)
  • II. You will want to have a copy of your "HID Sales Order acknowledgement" on hand and use the EXACT "Bill To" address as it appears on the acknowledgement and your 4-digit HID account number, which is located in the upper left hand corner next to your company's "Bill To" address.
  • III. Complete the Online Registration form, where you will choose your Online "User Name" and "Password". If you are the purchasing agent and wish to be the administrator, click here to register.
  • IV. Once we receive your "Registration Form," we will contact you within 5 business days to validate the information provided and set up your Log-on account.

No. At this time, you cannot view prices and invoice details.

No. HID products are not sold online.

10. What do all the different "Dates" mean?

  • a. Date Ordered: The date your Purchase Order was entered into our system.
  • b. Scheduled Date: The date the order is expected to ship from an HID warehouse.
  • c. Date Closed: The date the order was invoiced.
  • d. Shipped Date: The date the order actually shipped from an HID warehouse.

11. What does Order Status "Open" and "Closed" mean?

  • Open order status: Orders with at least one line item that have not yet shipped.
  • Closed order status: Orders that have been completely shipped

12. Is the Online Order Status service secure?

Yes. We use 40-bit encryption (SSL: Secure Socket Layer). We will also issue you a digital certificate to authenticate the login after you register.

13. What is the minimum Internet speed needed to use this service?

We recommend a minimum 28,800 BAUD speed or higher.
