The Extended Access Technologies (EAT) business area of HID Global is a leading provider of biometric and RFID products and solutions that embeds trust into digital devices using innovative authentication technologies. This business develops and integrates core technologies, tools and expertise from across HID and a variety of global partners, to deliver compelling solutions that solve real-world user authentication challenges across several industries including enterprise, financial services, healthcare, government and retail/POS. 

The ideal candidate will manage and extend the current portfolio of fingerprint toolkits and API’s across different capture technologies, converging those into a unified strategy that simplifies and streamlines the product integration for OEM’s, Integrators and End Users in targeted verticals and geographies. This role includes defining embedded firmware capabilities for fingerprint algorithms, liveness detection and secure communications for on-device, on-host and on-server/in-cloud biometric processing, ensuring compliance to global privacy standards. The fingerprint toolkits should also enable secure in-field updates that provide fixes and add new capabilities, enabling a recurring revenue model such as subscription maintenance or biometrics-as-a-service. 

The ideal candidate will also be familiar with at least one contactless biometric modality such as facial recognition. In this role, the candidate will support targeted end users, integrators and OEM’s with the deployment of HID facial recognition technology as a software offering or in combination with off-the-shelf or customized facial image capture systems. Experience with Mobile device operating systems and multifactor authentication such as RFID systems is a plus. 

This global role is responsible for the biometric toolkit roadmap for current fingerprint products and new contactless biometric modalities. This role requires close collaboration with other functional areas including engineering, sales, business development, marcom, pre-sales/tech support and innovation to ensure successful new product introductions aligned with the business strategy. 


Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.  

  • Defines product development priorities with engineering and program management, using HID approved processes and tools, and aligning with business priorities. 
  • Writes and updates product, solution & services market requirement documents (MRD). 
  • Maintains and updates a backlog of new requests and product maintenance needs to ensure engineering is working on the most important tasks. 
  • Regularly capture, review, validate and prioritize requests for new products/services, ensuring the activities are aligned with customer needs and emerging market trends. 
  • Familiar with development methods such as scrum, agile, and scaled agile framework. 
  • Act as voice of the customer for end users, integrators and OEM’s in target markets and use cases, ensuring the HID products meet identified market needs. 
  • Provide regular product/solution training to internal sales staff and external partners. Be the center of competency for market knowledge. Collect, organize and share competitive information internally. 
  • Collaborate in product and solution launches with marcom, including helping create written and visual materials that defines key product/solution value-proposition and differentiation aligned with end user needs, buyer personas and target markets.

  • Minimum 7+ years software biometric product management experience with proven domain experience in fingerprint technology. Additional experience in one contactless biometric technology such as facial recognition is highly desirable. 
  • Fingerprint biometrics experience in one or more of the following technologies: optical, capacitive, multispectral fingerprint capture. 
  • Understand biometric standards: FIPS-201, MINEX, Presentation Attack Detection. 
  • Understand data security and encryption principles including securing data at rest, data in- motion and server/cloud-based biometric processing to/from remote end-points. 
  • Familiar with Privacy by Design, GDPR, biometric data privacy regulations and methods. 
  • Strong SW development experience including embedded processing and encryption. 
  • OS knowledge: Windows 7/8/10, WBF and WHQL, Linux, Android required. Thin client highly desired. MacOS/iOS nice-to-have. 
  • Strong understanding of embedded systems development tools (ARM preferred), PC Applications Development (Windows/Linux required with thin client a plus), and server/cloud-based applications development. 
  • Strong written and verbal skills, and ability to deliver face-face and on-line presentations. 
  • Demonstrated ability of establishing credibility with engineering, global sales team, field- applications engineers, end user customers and 3rd party development partners. 
  • Formal experience in a structured product development process or stage gate process. 
  • Global experience highly preferred  


Education and/or Experience  

  • Technical Degree – Engineering or Computer Science Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent experience. Advanced degrees are a plus. 
  • Business Degree – Marketing or Business Administration is a plus.  


Language Skills  

  • Ability to effectively communicate in the English language, both verbally and in writing. 
  • Ability to read and interpret customer RFI/RFP’s, specifications, technical standards, etc. 
  • Additional major international languages a plus.  


Computer Skills  

  • Proficient in MS Office applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. 
  • Familiar with operating systems, such as Windows, etc. 
  • Familiar CRM tools and analysis such as  


Customer Focused Skills  

  • i.e Effective management of customer requirements and expectations. 
  • i.e Demonstrated history of excellence in customer service.
