Reporting into the SVP, Marketing & Corporate Communications for HID Global, the Director of Public Relations and Communications will be responsible for developing, managing and implementing the internal and external communications, corporate communications program, including global public relations, analyst relations, and public affairs.

This position will work closely with marketing functions, business area leaders, executive teams, product marketing, creative services, sales, and other core business functions to develop and drive the company’s communications strategy.

The ideal candidate will have a strong communications and writing background, as well as experience in developing and running public relations worldwide for all levels of the business, preferably in technology companies. The candidate must possess a track record of demonstrated success as part of a dynamic marketing team and the ability to adapt quickly in a changing environment. Experience in global public relations, analyst relations, and internal communications is a must.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Drive all aspects of the public relations program, analyst relations, and internal communications function, under the leadership of the SVP, Marketing & Corporate Communications
  • Direct corporate communications team, PR agencies and other communications and PR resources worldwide responsible for developing, writing, managing and implementing the company's global communications strategy and public relations campaigns.
  • As a critical partner to cross functional teams, responsible for planning, developing, and guiding management in all areas of communication strategy and processes to ensure alignment with the business needs and vision. This includes the development and implementation internal employee facing communications plus developing and driving HID’s thought leadership externally.
  • Spearhead multi-channel public relations campaigns that align speaking opportunities, news announcements, awards, case studies, proactive and reactive media relations, bylined articles, press events/ tours and other communications activities to business area goals and overall HID Global objectives.
  • Drive corporate communications and public relations strategy for HID Global’s participation in major trade events and industry conferences worldwide.
  • Cultivate and develop relationships with reporters, editors and producers across major business and important trade news media to extend and grow coverage that fortifies HID’s reputation as a worldwide leader in trusted identity solutions.  Identify and provide media training for HID spokespeople.
  • Manage crisis communications and preemptive planning, acting as a key spokesperson for the company with partners, news media and industry influencers.
  • Lead a comprehensive analyst and market intelligence program that includes engaging with key analysts on a regular basis to raise HID Global’s profile with key analysts.  Work with product teams to develop and prioritize tier one analyst outreach and deliver compelling content that is consistent with HID’s brand story. Establish programmatic outreach for tier two and tier three analysts.
  • Collaborate with other teams to bridge the gap between public relations and public affairs to apply learnings from state and federal policy initiatives impacting HID Global and/or identity technology industry to the communications strategy.
  • Drive internal corporate communications efforts at a critical point of change; work closely with HR and other internal constituents to promote HID internally, and elevate HID externally as an "employer of choice".

Education and/or Experience          

  • 10+ years of strategic corporate communications, PR and analyst relations experience that includes a blend of reputation building and thought leadership, media relations. A mix of client-side and agency experience a plus.
  • Must be an experienced manager of both people and programs.
  • Corporate PR experience required.  Extensive technology public relations experience preferred.
  • Exceptional writing skills are a must.
  • BS or BA degree, preferably in communications- or marketing-related discipline.
  • Journalism background a plus.
  • MBA a plus.

Language Skills                   

  • Ability to effectively communicate in the English language, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical journals, specifications, international technical standards, etc.              

Computer Skills     

  • Proficient in MS Office applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Familiar with operating systems, such as Windows, etc.
  • All related software in industry
  • Familiarity with Meltwater and results-driven reporting.
