The Senior Project Manager will plan, direct, and coordinate activities of firmware and electro-mechanical related projects for HID’s Secure Issuance business area to ensure that goals are accomplished within the prescribed time frame and funding parameters. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third parties to deliver projects according to plan. A Project Manager will also define project objectives and oversee quality control throughout their lifecycle. This is a highly visible position and may involve periodic travel.
 

What you will be doing

  • Manage cross-functional projects with other HID business areas and strategic partners to deliver truly exceptional end customer experience.
  • Provide technical coordination and program management for the development, design, and systems integration across multiple engagements from definition phase through implementation for the Secure Issuance solutions
  • Create, execute, and report on deployment plans across multiple projects and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations
  • Develop and maintain project metrics and visual feedback for communicating project status to all stakeholders in line with HID’s Product Innovation Process (PIP)
  • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members, contractors and third parties, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work
  • Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the projects
  • Conduct project postmortems and create a recommendations report to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements
  • Develop best practices and tools for program execution and management
  • Consult with management and engineering to review project proposals prior to project kick-off
  • Formulate, direct and coordinate activities of project team to ensure project progresses on schedule and within budget; may include coordination with marketing, sales, engineering, operations, and customer support (this would include contributing to the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables as well as contributing to the definition of specific tasks and resource requirements)
  • Coordinate the approval aspects of a project throughout its lifecycle including management reports and reviews using approved corporate tools, processes and policies as defined in HID’s Product Innovation Process (PIP)
  • Fulfill the duties of an RTE for projects using SAFe development methodologies.
  • Assess, mitigate, manage and report on project risks
  • Assess, mitigate, manage and report on project decisions
  • Ensure that proper technical and project documentation are complete, current and appropriately archived
  • Contribute to the improvement and evolution of the project management and development process

What we are looking for    

  • Bachelor's degree (engineering related preferred) from four-year college or university or at least five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience, including supervisory experience
  • 5+ years’ experience in project management or leading engineering development teams.
  • Firmware or other electro-mechanical development experience preferred.
  • Project Management Professional certification or additional training preferred.
  • SAFe certification (RTE or SPC preferred) and thorough knowledge of Scrum and or other agile development / project management methodologies.
  • Experience managing projects in a cross-functional team environment where resource sharing and cooperation has been effectively demonstrated are required
  • Proven experience in people management, strategic planning and change management are required
