Software engineer intern to develop physical access control systems and communications drivers for our high-reliability product.  Candidate should have an excellent background in the C language using multiple distributed OS environments, including Linux and Windows, and should be familiar with network-based communication protocols.              


The responsibilities of the Software Engineer Intern position include:

  • Develop and enhance features for Real-time embedded system.
  • Develop communications protocol drivers for use in our embedded system and third-party products.
  • Port existing software to new embedded hardware and software platforms.
  • Design and implement software development and test tools.
  • Assist the Quality Assurance group in their testing and the development of automation tools

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2 years educational experience in C or C++ programming
  • Working towards a BS degree in computer science, computer engineering, or computer engineering technology
  • Experience in distributed systems and network based communication protocols
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft Visual Studio, Eclipse, or SlickEdit development environments
  • Ability to work on complex tasks with minimal technical guidance
  • Excellent problem-solving, design, development, and debugging skills
  • Good communication skills

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and effectively communicate in the English language, both verbally and in writing.

Desired Qualifications

  • Professional experience in Linux development
  • Knowledge of the GNU toolset
  • Experience with RTOS and high-reliability platforms
  • Web server application development; REST, SOAP, Web Services
  • C, C++, Sockets (TCP/IP, UDP), RS232 and RS-485, SSL, TLS, XML, HTML, JSON, Virtual Machines


The position of Software Engineer Intern will be compensated at an hourly rate to commensurate with experience and meeting the above requirements
