HID Global looking for a Software Engineer (Android)

We, the HID Identity Technologies Lab, are adding the most talented engineers, technologists and innovation leaders that will help us to build products and services for secure access in the era of IoT. Smart homes, workplaces, cars, events and many other physical and virtual spaces must be accessed securely, without exposing or compromising privacy and digitalized identities of the people.

We are looking for a talented Software Engineer with experience in the Android ecosystem who can help us build the corner stone of the next generation mobile access control ecosystem. You will be part of a co-located team based in Stockholm, responsible for developing a secure and high-quality mobile SDK used in hundreds of apps all around the world.

 

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

● Develop a mobile SDK that securely stores and manages digital credentials and communicates with smart locks/readers over BLE and NFC.

● Adding Core Components for a mobile SDK

● Research how cutting-edge developments in the Android landscape can be used to improve our SDK and/or our development process.

● Work together (emphasis on pair programming) with team members to write Kotlin/Java code.

● Write and evaluate security-hardened code (usage of Trusted Execution environment).

● Preparations for product quality assurance testing, product demos, documentation.

 

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities we are looking for:

 

Skills

● Education: hold a B.Sc. in a relevant field, M.Sc is preferred.

● Language: English, both verbally and in writing.

● Coding: Professional experience in Java and Kotlin.

● Coding: Experience writing code with a strong security focus.

● Coding: Familiar with designing APIs.

● Architecture: Able to manage the complexity of a problem by breaking it down to smaller manageable modules in a meaningful way.

● Cryptography: Knowledge about symmetric and asymmetric algorithms, key management schemes.

● CI/CD: Working experience with CI/CD pipelines, test- and deployment automation (TeamCity, GitLab, Jenkins).

● Mocking: Familiar with Mockito and Robolectric.

We use agile development methodologies and prioritize our work together with the Product Owner and developers in the team. We work autonomously as a team and are accountable for our products and how they fit into the big picture, learning from both success and failure. We actively coach and get coached by the team, taking ownership of the code, monitor its performance, and continuously aim at optimizing consumer experience while following trends in software and turning insights into features and improvements for our products.
