Summary

The Pre-Sales Engineer is a key contributor in providing pre-sales and post-sales technical support to HID SAFE customers within the European Union primarily in German, France and Sweden. In this exciting position, you will work closely with the sales team to provide and coordinate technical sales support throughout the entire sales lifecycle.

 

What are my Responsibilities?

  • The Pre-Sales Engineer performs technical identification and qualification of sales opportunities, drives customer evaluations of Physical Identity and Access Management solutions, conduct workshops, delivers presentations and demos, and manages and responds to the customer’s technical and proposal requests.
  • Lead product demonstration for customers by working closely with the sales team, be the technical SME during customer visits.
  • Work with customers and internal product management and engineering teams to promote using HID SAFE technology to solve customer issues, and to relay customer business requirements from the field.
  • Attend industry trade shows, participate in industry workgroups, and promote HID SAFE technology.
  • Write technical responses and content for proposals in response to RFPs, RFI’s & RFQs.
  • Craft and deliver proposals, requirements documentation, ROI calculations, and Architecture and Integration designs tailored to customer requirements.
  • Work closely with Product Management, Marketing, and Customer Support by providing feedback on potential product enhancements and market demands, as well as competitive direction.
  • 30% - 35% travel for sales meetings, demos, and pilots

 

Desired Skills and Experience: Qualities needed to excel in this role:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ relevant product experience. Relevant experience includes working with Identity Management, Workflow and Automation, Physical and/or Logical Security solutions. Experience with Identity and Access Management, Security, Enterprise Software solutions is a definite plus.
  • 3 or more years of knowledge and experience in a technical pre-sales support role.
  • Ability to capture and identify the needs and requirements of prospective customers and recommend the appropriate solutions as well identify the gap between existing products and customer requirements.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience and ability in conducting live product demonstrations.
  • This is a technical position; however, the right candidate must be business-oriented with excellent customer-facing skills.

Education and/or Experience:

  • BS/BA or equivalent industry experience
  • Effectively communicate in German and English language verbally and in writing.
  • 5+ years’ experience in the software, or electronic access control/physical security industry with experience in pre- and post-sales technical activity, particularly in a customer-facing role.
  • Understanding of the Identity Management, Screening and Credentialing processes within a large enterprise.
  • Understanding of Server and Network technologies.
  • Expertise with SQL Server, .NET, and JavaScripting a plus.
  • University degree in Computer Science (or relevant work experience).
  • Exceptional presentation skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical journals, specifications, technical standards, etc.

Computer Skills:

  • Proficient in MS Office applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Familiar with operating systems, such as Windows, etc.
  • Familiar with Salesforce.com

 

Work Environment:

  • Home Based Office   
  • 30-35% Travel Required

 

Work Requirements

  • Compliance to all relevant HID Global policies and procedures related to Quality, Security, Safety, Business Continuity, and Environmental systems.
  • Travel and fieldwork including international travel may be required; therefore employee must possess or can acquire a valid passport.
