Senior Technical Pre-Sales Consultant

 

We are actively looking for a Senior Technical Pre-Sales consultant with an unparalleded understanding of I.T. systems and solutions along with a passion for computing, I.T. security and business processes to join the pre-sales team within the Consumer Authentication Business Unit of HID Global.

So what is the Consumer Authentication Business Unit of HID Global?  Let me start by saying we are not the people responsible for Physical Access Controls, nor are we responsible for Secure Issuance or Citizen Identity (if your skills lie here, this role is possibly not for you).  We are way cooler than that – our business unit is responsible for facilitating customer trust in a digital world.  We help financial services customers onboard their customers efficiently, authenticate their customers seamlessly, and reduce overall friction while orchestrating their processes and increasing their security.  We provide the solutions you use in your everyday life to secure access to your bank accounts when interacting digitally.

  • The Consumer Authentication Technical Pre-Sales team is an amazing team built of customer-facing technical resources.  If you spend any time looking at cybersecurity news/reports, you and the organisations you will support understand that sticking their heads in the sand is not a successful Identity and Access Management solution.

Duties and Responsibilities  include the following.

Your job will be to support the sales organisation by:

  • Understanding the customer's needs, and clearly convey how and why HID Global’s product suite is the best solution addressing all of the customers business and technical requirements
  • Taking ownership of, and demonstrat how HID products can help our prospective customers
  • Understanding and overcoming technical objections to the use of HID products and solutions
  • Understanding the customers architecture and provide meaningful input and feedback on the overall design
  • Understanding when a GAP cannot be immediately addressed and work with the product organization to mitigate the gap
  • Answering technical questions that sales may not be able to answer to the depth you can.
  • Taking ownerships of Requests for Information (RFI) and Request for Quotations (RFQ) and coordinating efforts as appropriate.  (sorry, we also need to type long but amazing technical documents, sometimes at very short notice.)
  • Delivering Proof of Concept deployments where required
  • Presenting the IAMS Solutions and the complete HID Product portfolio when appropriate to both existing and potential customers (if you’ve read this far, we can assume you have no worries of stage fright!)
  • Working with the Marketing and Solutions Marketing teams on public speaking events, blogs and technical articles

 

What is needed of you

  • You are already a technical expert in your field with an indepth understanding of authentication methods and protocols.  You have a detailed understanding of IT Infrastructure including but not limited to Active Directory, WebSphere, Firewalls, Databases and Proxy servers.  You are knowledgeable working with standards-based RESTful API’s such as OpenID Connect, Oauth and SCIM.
  • You know how to pack a suitcase? Perfect, otherwise the extensive travel to some of the nicest and some not so nice locations for this role will be really tricky
  • You are willing to make a difference? We really love people with an opinion, not shy to share and drive their point across with passion
  • A willingness to learn and develop skills around industry standards and regulations

 

Education and/or Experience          

  • A BSc (or equivalent education) in Computing, a Physical Science or Engineering, MIS or equivalent work experience.
  • You need to be comfortable presenting and enjoy working with technology. 
  • At least seven years experience in a technical pre-sales function (if you feel you lack the experience but have the technical expertise and skills to own this role, please still apply, we are looking for someone with the right attiture, skill set and drive).
  • Experience working for an I/T security vendor or in the financial services sector could be beneficial.
  • You must have good interpersonal and communication skills in both spoken and written English. The ability to also communicate fluently in either German or French would provide the candidate with a strong advantage.
  • You need to be self-motivated (this role is a remote role), hard-working and a team player with initiative and able to self-manage. 

 

Work Environment

You will be required to work remotely and need to travel extensively for this role.
