Frequently Asked Questions
1. How do HID’s multi-technology cards support migration to newer systems?
HID offers multi-technology cards that combine newer secure technologies like Seos with legacy systems like Prox™ or iCLASS. This allows organizations to gradually upgrade their access control infrastructure without disrupting existing operations. Users can continue using their credentials on older systems while the organization transitions to more secure technologies over time.
2. How do HID’s extended use case credentials enhance security for physical and digital access?
HID’s extended use case credentials, including ActivID™ one-time password (OTP) tokens and Crescendo® smart cards, provide robust multi-factor authentication. OTP tokens generate unique, time-sensitive passwords for secure access to cloud applications, while Crescendo smart cards support protocols like PKI, FIDO and OATH for both logical and physical access. By combining something the user has (the token or card) with something they know (a PIN), these credentials significantly enhance security and make unauthorized access much more difficult.
3. What options does HID offer for environmentally conscious organizations?
HID provides the Seos Bamboo Eco Card as a more sustainable alternative to traditional PVC cards. This credential offers the same advanced Seos technology and security features while supporting environmental, social and governance goals. It's compatible with a wide range of access control systems and applications, allowing organizations to enhance security while reducing their environmental impact.
