HID® iCLASS® SE™ OSDP Upgrade Module with Secure Channel Protocol

With its long history of standards support, HID Global has contributed to the development of the new Open Supervised Device Protocol (OSDP) standard recently established by Security Industry Association (SIA) that brings advanced communications and security features to interconnected devices. The first use of OSDP targets physical access control system readers, and HID's OSDP Upgrade Module allows users of iCLASS SE and multiCLASS SE™ readers to easily upgrade their systems by simply plugging in the module into existing or new readers.

Utilizing the OSDP Upgrade Module with iCLASS SE and multiCLASS SE readers extends security from the reader all the way through the communications connections, while providing a number of advanced features such as the ability to now centrally manage readers. The module allows for bi-directional communication that also enables users to change configurations as well as poll and query readers from a central system, reducing costs and improving the ability to service readers. The incorporation of Secure Communication Protocol (SCP) into OSDP increases the security of reader connections and the use of transparent mode enables a virtual direct connection to smart cards at the reader.
