The TSL 1166 RAIN Reader, designed and developed by TSL (a part of HID), offers high-performance UHF RFID reading and writing in a durable, rugged design that is resistant to water, dust and mechanical impact. Equipped with a high-capacity battery, it ensures continuous operation throughout the workday. It reads and writes to EPC Class 1 Gen 2 (ISO18000-6C) tags and can be configured with a high-performance 2D data scanner for superior data collection.
This reader is platform-independent and works with Bluetooth-enabled host devices, including enterprise handhelds, smartphones, tablets and PCs. It supports various operating systems and extensive software support is available, including code samples, demo apps and source code.
The 1166 Reader also offers a batch mode feature, allowing EPC readings to be stored on an embedded Micro SD card. With the ability to store over 250 million EPCs, it can operate independently of a host device. The data is time-stamped using the onboard real-time clock, and it can be accessed through the 1166 Docking Station Kit for use in a Windows environment.
The 1166 incorporates TSL’s unique ASCII protocol, enabling faster and simpler application development. This protocol provides pre-configured commands for tag operations, streamlining integration and offering exceptional performance without requiring deep knowledge of underlying native APIs.
The reader allows customization with various host devices, from low-cost consumer smartphones to advanced enterprise terminals. It also features an elegant Pop-Loq® adapter to mount devices directly on top, providing a streamlined, all-in-one solution.
