Questions fréquentes

1. What mobile platforms are supported by HID Mobile Access?

HID Mobile Access supports iOS and Android devices, including smartphones and wearables like Apple Watch.

2. Do users need to download a separate app to use HID Mobile Access?

There are multiple implementation options. Mobile credentials can be added to popular digital wallets, integrated into your existing company app through SDKs, or accessed through the HID Mobile Access app. Choose the option that best fits your organization’s needs.

3. How secure are mobile credentials compared to physical cards?

Mobile credentials are actually more secure than physical cards. They utilize Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) encryption, store keys in the phone's secure element, and can be quickly decommissioned if a device is lost. Additionally, HID has attained internationally recognized third-party ISO/IEC 27001 and SOC 2 Type 2 security certifications to ensure maximum security.

4. Can HID access my personal information on my phone?

No. Your personal data remains on your phone — encrypted and inaccessible by the mobile access provider. The system only uses a unique identifier number for authentication and doesn't collect or have means to access other information on your device.

5. How reliable is mobile access compared to traditional credentials?

Mobile access is highly reliable. Most functionality issues are simply related to individual phone settings and can be easily remedied. Our wallet solutions can even work when battery life is extremely low or fully exhausted — for example, iPhone users can utilize Express Mode with power reserve.

6. How is mobile access provisioned and managed?

Everything can be done remotely. Administrators simply email users a link to download their credential, eliminating the need for in-person card issuance. The HID Origo Management Portal allows adding users individually or through bulk uploads, with all tracking displayed in a single dashboard for easy management.

7. Can I implement mobile access alongside my existing access control system?

Yes. Many of our readers can read both mobile devices and traditional cards, allowing for phased implementation. This hybrid approach helps organizations transition at their own pace without disrupting operations.

8. Why do mobile credentials have a cost if they’re virtual?

The bulk of credential costs comes from the security and technology keeping information safe and operational, not the physical medium. Mobile credentials also require continuous engineering to maintain compatibility with frequently updated device models and operating systems. Companies advertising "free" credentials typically shift costs elsewhere or limit future flexibility.

9. Can users have multiple credentials on a single device?

Yes, users can store multiple mobile credentials on a single device. This is particularly useful for individuals who need access to multiple facilities or for organizations managing visitor access alongside employee credentials.
