HID Condition Monitoring is a real-time monitoring platform to assess the health and performance of industrial equipment. Implementing an end-to-end condition monitoring solution enables a predictive maintenance strategy to improve inspections, maintenance, and operation decisions, reducing unplanned downtime and increasing productivity across the manufacturing plant, HVAC, elevators and other rotating equipment. Historically, monitoring more assets using legacy technology was cost prohibitive, making this technology a huge leap forward.
The push for predictive maintenance solutions is driven by a rising demand for operational transparency, reliable planning, and cost efficiency. Companies worldwide, from various sectors, have come to appreciate the tangible benefits of cost-effective maintenance practices, enhanced machine efficiency, and compliance with safety regulations. In this webinar, our experts discuss how organizations like yours can implement predictive maintenance tools to optimize operations.
Condition monitoring offers a range of key features that make it an invaluable asset management tool.
HID Condition Monitoring is a low-cost, wireless, remote monitoring system providing vibration and temperature data in real time, dramatically changing the manufacturing landscape. Increased visibility into equipment performance using multiple data points allows the facility to monitor and respond quickly to critical events. With instant information, creating actionable analysis in meaningful formats is achievable through a Bluzone™ scalable cloud services platform. Armed with valuable equipment data, organizations can improve the operational environment and achieve better manufacturing efficiencies.
Equipment fails and when it does, it can be catastrophic for the factory resulting in lost production and lost revenue. Additional adverse effects are costs to operations, idle labor, work-in-progress scrap, machine repairs, and clean up. HID Condition Monitoring provides analytics, visualization and real-time alerts to enable a predictive maintenance strategy. The system learns the unique baseline of normal behavior of each asset equipped with an array of sensors and monitoring tools. During production, if vibration behavior deviates from the baseline for a period, an alert is generated notifying a change in operating or health status. The facility can implement remedial actions before equipment fails to reduce downtime, avoid lost capacity, and quickly respond to critical circumstances.
HID Condition Monitoring is also used to monitor other types of capital equipment with rotating and reciprocating components such as elevators, escalators and HVAC equipment. The solution activates an alert when something needs attention.
Additionally, HID Condition Monitoring can monitor, collect and analyze data on food and beverage coolers and vending machines. Real-time data captures include cooler temperature, cooler motor health, door openings, and more. Enhanced visibility improves maintenance calls, improves cooler functionality and ensures everything is running optimally, resulting in maximized sales.
IoT reaches almost every industry. HID shows you in this 50-minute webinar the ways you can get ahead of equipment failures, leveraging the power of condition monitoring for fault detection and predictive maintenance.
The HID Condition Monitoring beacon uses advanced edge processing to calculate equipment health metrics. Every two minutes, the beacon samples vibration data at 25.6 kHz on all three axes, and then uses onboard signal processing to transform this data into key metrics that are used to determine machine health and status. These metrics target specific vibration frequency ranges that are present for various defect types that commonly occur in rotating and reciprocating equipment. The health metrics are then used in Bluzone cloud with machine learning technology to detect anomalies and generate alerts in real time. Additionally, by using advanced edge processing on the beacon to calculate the health metrics, HID leverages high-fidelity, high-bandwidth vibration data while reducing network traffic and preserving battery life.
Since HID uses the Bluetooth Low-Energy (BLE) protocol, there is no fixed limit to the number of condition monitoring beacons that can be seen by a gateway (BluFi). However, in practice, we usually aim to have 20 or fewer beacons per gateway for condition monitoring.
In many industrial settings, up to 20 meters is common. However, depending on the layout, obstructions, and RF interference, this distance could be greater or less than 20 meters.
The beacons should be mounted using approved epoxies (listed in our installation documentation that comes with the product).
The beacons have a rating of IP67.
We have an intrinsically safe version of the Condition Monitoring beacon (BVCM45G2-A1Z1) that is designed for hazardous and explosive environments. See the datasheet for more details.
We work with third parties to build enclosures (custom, if needed) to suit various environments, including hazardous and outdoor.
With the standard configuration, the beacon will utilize a sampling rate of 25.6 kHz to collect data and then perform edge processing to reduce this to a set of metrics related to machine health. Additionally, you may choose to pull several seconds of raw data at 25.6 kHz (on demand) from the beacon for further processing.
The beacon has a tri-axial accelerometer and collects data on all three axes (X, Y, Z) simultaneously for the edge-calculated health metrics.
With the standard configuration, the edge-processed features are sent approximately every 2 minutes.
With the standard configuration, the HID Condition Monitoring Beacon (BVCM45G2) with internal (non-replaceable) battery will typically last up to 3 years (this can vary depending on environment). The HID Condition Monitoring Beacon with External Battery Pack (BVCM45G2-EXTPOW) can last up to 5 years, and these batteries are replaceable.
